Yogic Unwinding: MahaShivaRatri Practice

Join Sathyadev for a special Yogic Unwinding diving deep into the spiritual significance and practices of MahāŚivarātri, or the night of Lord Śiva. Śiva, is the cosmic formless Supreme Consciousness. Considered one of the most auspicious nights in the yogic tradition, owing to special planetary conjunction. Spiritual practices done on this night are considered to be especially beneficial. Weaving together asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, and puja we will explore the dual aspects of Lord Śiva, both as the adiguru absorbed in meditation, and as Natarāja the cosmic dancer. This is a class you don’t want to miss!

The Astamurti—the eight manifestations of Lord Śiva—are well known. They are space, wind, fire, water, earth, the mind, intellect and the individual soul. The principle behind the iconography is that the entire universe is pervaded by Śiva. Hence it is our dharma to see divinity in every aspect of creation and to love, serve, respect and revere them. It is to this perspective that we should raise ourselves through the worship of Lord Śiva. Śivaratri calls  us to wake up from the delusional sleep of ignorance and find peace and beauty within ourselves.” -Amma
